Y es que estamos organizando una exposición para el centenario y, para prepararla, necesitábamos investigar a fondo la historia de la librería.
El primer paso fue hablar con todos los antiguos libreros que pudimos —contamos con la ayuda de un periodista que se encargó de las entrevistas—; el segundo paso fue descubrir qué guardábamos dentro de la propia librería.
Así fue como pasé el verano en el almacén: desempolvando cajas, archivos y pequeños misterios. Acabé instalada en la mesa de Jordi (gracias de nuevo por la hospitalidad), con polvo hasta las pestañas y con la selección musical de Miguel Ángel, nuestro responsable del almacén, como banda sonora.
Descubrí cómo la librería había ido cambiando de manos y de ubicación, cómo estuvo a punto de cerrar varias veces y cómo siempre consiguió renacer.
Encontré fotografías antiguas, recortes de periódico y algún que otro tesoro olvidado. Una de las cosas que más me sorprendió fue saber que, en los años treinta, la librería no solo vendía libros, sino también entradas para espectáculos, exposiciones, conciertos, eventos culturales e incluso deportivos. Es decir, que siempre ha sido un verdadero centro cultural para la ciudad.
Todo esto, y mucho más, formará parte de la exposición que inauguraremos el 21 de noviembre, y esperamos que vengáis a verla.
